Second Saturday Meeting SeriesSECOND SATURDAY provides an invaluable service for every woman facing the complexities of divorce. This workshop is designed to help women take the next step, at any stage in the process of untying the knot. SECOND SATURDAY deals with the legal, financial, family and personal issues of divorce in a logical, yet compassionate way. With the guidance of trained professionals, workshop participants gain a greater understanding of the confusing divorce process. SECOND SATURDAY is an excellent supplement to professional advice. You will learn what to expect and how to prepare for meetings with your attorney. Divorce professionals often charge upwards of $200 an hour for advice. SECOND SATURDAY is a community service open to women who want to learn about the process of divorce (Track 1) and how to build new lives as single women (Track 2)
Second Saturday Monthly Meeting Schedule
Guest speakers are authorities in local divorce law, psychology, children’s issues, finance, vocational transitions, and other specialties. These attorneys, mediators, accountants, therapists, coaches, and other professionals rotate on our schedule. Topics also change so that regular attendees will not repeat the same speaker and topic, yet occasional attendees will not miss important subjects. No bias is made toward any professional. March 14, 2007 - Thomas Fields, divorce attorney with Beerman Swerdlove in Chicago will help us understand the legal in's-and-out's of divorce, as well as what attorneys do in post decree matters. February 14, 2007 - Kate Van Dyke of Divorce Counseling and Coaching will give us strategies on how to survive divorce and then how NOT to date a jerk. January 13, 2007 - Alan Pearlman, a northshore divorce attorney will tell us about "Myths and Truths About the Divorce Process." Alan is an author and entertaining speaker whose presentations are enjoyable and educational. "
December 9, 2006 - Faith Curtis - a professional life coach who will talk on "Communicate to be Heard, Understood, and Believed": Improving your communication skills will have a profound impact on your whole sense of well-being. You will experience such a sense of satisfaction when you have managed to clearly communicate, when in the past you would have left the situation feeling tense, frustrated, angry or depressed. You'll also find people being more open to you as they gain confidence in your openness and lack of desire to defend yourself or to manipulate them. Sara and Chad will continue to discuss the financial issues of divorce and beyond, focusing on financial planning concepts. November 11, 2006 - Steve Wallman, MSW, LCSW, of The Center for Compassionate Divorce in Chicago and the northern suburbs. Steve concentrates his practice on divorce counseling. His topics are Getting Support When You Are Going Through Divorce for Track 1, and Getting Support In Your New Life for Track 2. Whether you are considering getting divorced or are already in the process, you may not want your friends and family to know what's going on. With the right support, you will emerge healthier and more prepared for your new life. He also knows what men are thinking, so go ahead and ask! At this Second Saturday session, Sara Stolberg, CFP, CDFA will speak on Forms of Financial Support in Divorce for Track 1 and Financial Self-Support Issues for Track 2. October 14, 2006 - Elizabeth Lazzara, JD, partner at Aronberg, Goldgehn, Davis & Garmisa in Chicago and Schaumburg. Elizabeth concentrates on family law and is recognized as a Leading Lawyer in Illinois. Her topics are Divorce 101 for Track 1 and Post-decree issues for Track 2. Elizabeth is a knowledgeable, straight-forward attorney who will tell you what to expect in a positive, motivating way. At this Second Saturday session, Sara Stolberg, CFP, CDFA will speak on The Financial Decisions of Divorce for Track 1 and Basic Finance for the Single Woman for Track 2.
